Jerry Rice Jr.’s next opportunity to make an NFL roster will come where his father was made famous.
Rice will take part in San Francisco 49ers rookie minicamp this week as a non-roster player, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reported Monday. Rice had a weekend tryout with the Baltimore Ravens, which he left unsigned.
Rice tweeted that he’s getting ready for his opportunity with the 49ers.

Rice spent four years at UCLA as a walk-on before transferring to UNLV for his senior season. He caught 19 passes for 142 yards during his college career.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound wide receiver participated in UCLA’s pro day in March, where he ran a 4.68-second 40-yard dash with a 7.27-second three-cone and 4.43-second short shuttle with an 8-foot-10 broad jump and 33-inch vertical leap.
Without college production, ideal size or athleticism, Rice is a long shot to get signed as an undrafted free agent, despite his multiple opportunities and Hall of Fame father.
