The Boston Red Sox on Monday recalled catcher Ryan Lavarnway from Triple-A Pawtucket ahead of the team’s Memorial Day matchup against the Atlanta Braves. The move marks the beginning of Lavarnway’s first major league stint of the 2014 season.
Lavarnway is hitting .263 with seven doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs in 44 games with the PawSox.
