The human highlight reel that is Johnny Gaudreau struck again Friday morning.

The former Boston College star, whose top-shelf laser helped lead Team USA past Belarus at the IIHF World Championship last week, played the role of facilitator against Kazakhstan.

With the teams tied at two goals apiece late in the second period — and the U.S. trying to avoid a second straight embarrassing defeat — Gaudreau was tripped up by a Kazakh defender as he carried the puck into the offensive zone. The puck sent the Calgary Flames rookie tumbling to the ice, but Gaudreau was able to retain control of the puck and feed it back to New York Islanders defenseman Matt Donovan, who fired it past the netminder for the go-ahead goal.

This kid is going to be a beauty to watch next season.

Kazakhstan scored to tie it in the third, but Nashville Predators defenseman Seth Jones potted his second goal of the game 1:05 into overtime to give the Americans a 4-3 win.
