Mike Napoli, Jonny Gomes, David OrtizIt took 26 outs for the Boston Red Sox to record their first hit off Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish in an 8-0 loss Friday night. Jonny Gomes and the Sox hope to get their bats started much sooner Saturday night.

Gomes will make his first start since May 3, batting fifth and playing left field for Game 2 of the Red Sox’s three-game set with the Rangers at Globe Life Park.

Also returning to the Boston lineup is catcher David Ross, who will bat seventh and start behind the plate for Red Sox pitcher Jon Lester. Lester had a Darvish-esque performance in his last outing against the Oakland A’s, striking out a career-high 15 batters and allowing only one hit over eight innings.

The Sox will face Rangers left-hander Martin Perez, who allowed five runs in five innings in his last appearance against the Colorado Rockies.
