When Mike Carp left the Seattle Mariners to join the Boston Red Sox before the 2013 season, he was used to being an everyday player.
Carp has had to adjust his mindset in Boston, though, as a deep Red Sox roster has resulted in him receiving limited at-bats.
Before Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Twins, manager John Farrell acknowledged the how difficult it can be for a player like Carp to adjust to a backup role and praised his ability to stay sharp and be ready to go at a moment’s notice.
