The New York Jets have added yet another quarterback to their roster.
The Jets selected Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft Saturday with the 213th overall pick.
Boyd will have to fight for a spot in the Meadowlands, as the Jets currently have four quarterbacks on their roster in starter Geno Smith, recently acquired Michael Vick and second-year pro Matt Simms also in the mix.
The 23-year-old tweeted his excitement about going to New York.
Boyd, who was the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2012, was the fifth Clemson Tiger to be taken in the draft this year. His teammate, dynamic wide receiver Sammy Watkins, was taken fourth overall by the Buffalo Bills, the Jets’ AFC East rivals.
Boyd holds the ACC record for touchdown passes with 107 and compiled 505 total yards and five touchdowns in the final game of his college career, a 40-35 win over Ohio State in the 2014 Orange Bowl.
