The plan was to have the funeral Saturday, but the Rangers were unable to switch the date and time of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. This led to the family scheduling the funeral for Sunday.

The last week has been full of many different emotions for St. Louis. He traveled to Quebec to be with his family after his mother’s death, then rejoined the Rangers for Game 5 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He opened the scoring in Game 6, which was played on Mother’s Day. It was an emotional moment for him, and he thanked his teammates for their support after the victory (see video below). New York went on to win Game 7 and take the series after trailing 3-1.
