NEW YORK — The New England Patriots addressed the defensive side of the ball on Day 1 of the 2014 NFL draft, and now it’s time to find Tom Brady some help on offense.

The Patriots have plenty of needs on offense, where they should fill depth at tight end, running back and offensive line. Some top wide receivers still are available — including USC’s Marqise Lee — and if he continues to tumble because of last season’s knee injury, the Patriots could look to move up in the second round to acquire a potential No. 1 wideout.

The Patriots also could draft Tom Brady’s eventual successor Friday night, with Alabama’s AJ McCarron, Fresno State’s Derek Carr, Eastern Illinois’ Jimmy Garoppolo and Pittsburgh’s Tom Savage still available.
