After losing running back LeGarrette Blount to free agency, the New England Patriots turned to the draft to add some more depth to the position.
Their answer was Wisconsin running back James White, who the Pats picked in the fourth round.
But White won’t necessarily be a replacement for Blount. In fact, he reminds head coach Bill Belichick of another one of his running backs: Shane Vereen.
The starting position isn’t guaranteed to the injury-prone Vereen, though, and it may not be guaranteed to Stevan Ridley either, who fumbled four times in a span of 10 games last season. So the sure-handed White — who fumbled just twice in 754 college touches — may see his fair share of playing time in 2014.
