Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry had a chance to win Sunday’s first-round Game 7 in the final seconds, but he was denied by a great block from Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce.
With the Nets protecting a 104-103 lead, the Raptors inbounded the ball with 6.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Lowry received the pass and dribbled to his left en route to the basket. After having the ball knocked out of his hands temporarily, Lowry regained possession in the paint and attempted a game-winning shot. Pierce, who was on the edge of the restricted area under the paint, made a perfectly timed block to end Toronto’s season and give Brooklyn a second-round matchup with the defending champion Miami Heat.
