Red Sox Give Their Best Effort In Unfortunate Loss To Rays (Video)

Unfortunate might be the only way to describe the Boston Red Sox’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.

The 1-0 defeat was Boston’s eighth straight, but this time, it was actually a great effort on the Sox’s part.

John Lackey pitched seven full shutout innings, but ultimately the Rays were able to crack Boston’s relief pitching in a way the Sox could not. The Sox had their chances, but simply could not translate them into runs.

Jake Peavy will take the mound Saturday afternoon and hopes to help turn the team in a winning direction.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
