The Boston Red Sox issued a statement one day after a young woman fell down an elevator shaft at Fenway Park in Boston late Friday.

“A young woman suffered serious injuries shortly after the conclusion of last night’s game at Fenway Park,” the statement said. “Various Red Sox personnel responded immediately and worked alongside the Boston Police Department, Boston Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services to address the situation.  She was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where she is being treated.”

The team added that the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and the Boston Police Department are working to determine what happened. The Red Sox have no further comment at this time.
