The Boston Red Sox shuffled their roster Wednesday afternoon, replacing one 2013 World Series champion with another.

The team placed left-handed starter Felix Doubront on the 15-day disabled list and officially announced the signing of shortstop Stephen Drew to a contract through the end of this season.

Doubront exited Tuesday night’s game in the fifth inning after experiencing fatigue and numbness in his left shoulder. The Red Sox trailed the Toronto Blue Jays 6-0 at the time of Doubront’s departure and went on to lose 7-4. It was Boston’s fifth straight loss.

Drew, who has not played since October, takes Doubront’s spot on the 25-man roster but is expected to begin his season in the minors.

The Red Sox host the Blue Jays on Wednesday in the second game of their three-game set. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
