The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays have a long history of bench-clearing brawls, but the latest one happened to be followed by a Red Sox win streak.
The Sox last met the Rays during their losing streak, and they finished that matchup by getting swept by Tampa, extending that streak to 10 games. But the brawl that occurred in the final game of that series at Tropicana Park seemed to light a fire under the Sox, and they went on to win their next four games.
But do the fights really help a team, or is it exaggerated in the media? Tom Caron, Steve Lyons, and the Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham discuss this in the video above.
