Report: NHL Reviewing Multiple Canadiens-Rangers Game 5 Incidents

John Moore, Dale WeiseThe Montreal Canadiens tend to bring out the worst in their opponents, and that was the case Tuesday night as two New York Rangers players may have crossed the line in their loss to the Habs.

Montreal extended the series with a 7-4 win in Game 5 in Montreal, a game that featured plenty of rough stuff during and after play. The Habs and Rangers haven’t had much bad blood in recent years, but they’re making up for that in this series, which has turned increasingly chippy through the first five games.

That continued Tuesday night, and it might mean supplemental discipline for New York’s Steve Moore and Derek Dorsett. According to reports, the NHL will review incidents from both players. Moore’s high, late hit on Dale Weise and Dorsett’s head-butt against Mike Weaver are the two plays in question following Montreal’s win.

The Canadiens could also be looking at some sort of discipline, too. Lavoie reports that winger Rene Bourque is being reviewed for his role in the final moments of the game where he cross-checked Dorsett.

Montreal’s Brandon Prust was already suspended two games for a late hit on Derek Stepan, similar to the one Moore put on Weise.
