Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is expected to end LeBron James’ two-year run as the NBA’s most valuable player when this year’s award is announced on Tuesday, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.

Durant had a stellar season and was the favorite throughout the 2013-14 campaign to win the first MVP of his career. The former University of Texas star finished second in the MVP voting during the 2010, 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Durant won his fourth scoring title with 32.2 points per game, while also adding 5.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game. He ranked among the league leaders in several other categories, as seen in the photo below.

Durant carried a Thunder team that lost superstar point guard Russell Westbrook for 36 games because of injury to the second-best record in the Western Conference at 59-23 and a Northwest Division title.
The 25-year-old forward would be the first player in the history of the Seattle SuperSonics/OKC Thunder franchise to win an MVP award.
