The MLS Eastern Conference-leading New England Revolution extended their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) with a 2-1 victory over second-place D.C. United on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, rookie Patrick Mullins opened up the scoring in the 55th minute when he notched his fourth goal in as many games. But the United rallied back, as Fabian Espindola notched the equalizer just seven minutes later.
New England’s Diego Fagundez scored the game-winner in the 77th minute. It was Fagundez’s fourth goal in three games.
With the win, the Revolution maintain sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference, five points ahead of D.C. and Sporting Kansas City, who are tied for second place with 18 points.
The Revs return to action on Saturday when they visit the Montreal Impact. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET.
