Wild’s Charlie Coyle Receives 15 Stitches After Taking Shot To Face (Photo)

The Minnesota Wild’s Charlie Coyle will have a nice new scar to show off thanks to teammate Ryan Suter.

In the first period of Game 7 between the Wild and the Colorado Avalanche, Coyle inadvertently blocked Suter’s shot with his face, earning himself some immediate medical attention and a trip down the tunnel.

Coyle managed to return for the start of the second period, and helped his team beat the Avalanche in overtime, all while dealing with 15 new stitches holding his cheek together.

Coyle will have some competition in the facial scars category, however, as Ryan Getzlaf also earned some stitches during the first round of the playoffs.
