The NHL free agency period begins on July 1, and the Boston Bruins are going to have a lot on their plate before and during that time.
The Bruins have five unrestricted and five restricted free agents, but all eyes are on two forwards in the UFA category.
Jarome Iginla and Shawn Thornton are under the most scrutiny. With Iginla, both sides seem to want to keep him in Boston, as he had a strong first year with the club. But with Thornton, seven seasons with the B’s doesn’t change the fact that his role as an enforcer is changing in the NHL as a whole.
