Yasiel Puig has made plenty of spectacular plays in his young MLB career. He nearly made the play of his life on Sunday.
With two outs in the ninth inning and a runner on third in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game against the Miami Marlins, the talented outfielder nearly saved his team with a highlight-reel play when he leaped in front of the right field wall to go after a fly ball off the bat of Marlins second baseman Jeff Baker.
The ball sailed just over the glove of Puig, however, who slammed into the wall with a vicious impact and lay on the ground for nearly a minute while the Marlins celebrated their walk-off win. Check out the scary play below.
It was tough play overall for Puig, who not only missed the catch but had the ball bounce off the wall and hit him in the face as he fell to the ground. While he was visibly shaken up on the play, post-game concussion tests for Puig proved negative and he is currently listed as day-to-day.
The 5-4 Marlins victory featured also featured a pair of highlights from another one of the game’s young stars, as Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton launched two massive home runs to give him 10 on the season. Check out both of Stanton’s shots below.
