Australian rules football is a crazy mix of soccer, football and rugby in a game that looks mostly like a free-for-all on the field.

That anything-goes attitude was on full display in one recent game, where a player did everything in his power to “mark” the ball, which is catching it before it hits the ground. Port Adelaide’s Chad Wingard leaped into the air to catch the ball, kneeing an opposing player in the back of the head in the process.

Instead of being called for a foul, Wingard was praised by the game’s broadcast announcers for making the “mark of the year.”

It’s a brutal game to say the least.
