Boston Red Sox v Baltimore OriolesBoston Red Sox right-hander Brandon Workman showed Tuesday why he was the one called up from Triple-A Pawtucket while Felix Doubront nurses a shoulder issue, and it earned him Amica Pitcher of the Week honors.

Workman pitched a gem against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, dealing 6 2/3 innings of one-hit ball. He struck out four and walked just one, earning the win in Boston’s 1-0 victory.

Workman was the bright spot in that Baltimore series in which the O’s outscored the Sox 10-1 over three games.

The 25-year-old is currently awaiting the verdict on an appeal of a six-game suspension that he was dealt for throwing at Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria’s head during his start on May 25.
