As the first Brazilian-born player in MLB history, Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes is certainly proud of his heritage. And he’s even prouder right now while his home country hosts the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
NESN’s Gary Striewski caught up with Gomes before Cleveland took on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday, and Gomes talked about his time in Brazil — he moved to the U.S. at age 12 — as well as his excitement for the Cup.
