Web Gems are becoming the norm for Brock Holt.
Holt made yet another diving catch in the outfield Saturday as the Boston Red Sox fell to the Oakland Athletics 2-1 in 10 innings at O.co Coliseum. Stephen Vogt was able to tag up from third base and score Oakland’s first run on Holt’s diving play, but Boston’s energetic superutility player still took a hit away from Alberto Callaspo and helped minimize the damage in the third inning.
Holt’s contributions again extended beyond his glove work, too. Holt reached base four times — three hits and a walk — in Boston’s loss, elevating his season average to .329. He was a bright spot in another futile effort by the Red Sox’s offense.
Coco Crisp eventually lifted the A’s to a 2-1 victory with a walk-off single off Koji Uehara in the bottom of the 10th inning.
