The Boston Bruins have a new-look front office after Jim Benning left the club to become the Vancouver Canucks’ general manager.
The Bruins finalized and announced the ensuing changes Friday morning. The B’s promoted Scott Bradley to assistant general manager — a spot previously held by Benning — while elevating Ryan Nadeau to director of hockey operations/analytics. Boston also announced the hiring of John Ferguson Jr. as executive director of player personnel.
Bradley, a 22-year-veteran veteran of the Bruins’ organization, had spent the last five seasons as director of player personnel.
Ferguson comes to the Bruins from the San Jose Sharks, where he was the team’s director of pro scouting. He also has held front-office positions with the St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs. Ferguson served as the director of hockey operations in St. Louis and previously was the GM in Toronto.
As Boston’s director of executive of player personnel, Ferguson will have a big role in scouting both professional and amateur levels. He also will advise Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli and the hockey ops team in roster moves and transactions.
Nadaeau will enter his 12th season with the Black and Gold. In addition to analytic work, he will continue to scout college prospects.
