The Boston Bruins will kick off their 2014-15 home campaign by welcoming a familiar rival to town.
The NHL announced the 2014-15 home openers for all 30 teams Saturday, with the Bruins slated to face the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 8 at TD Garden. The league will announce its full 1,230-game regular-season schedule Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
After their tilt against Philadelphia, the Bruins head to Detroit to take on the Red Wings in their home opener, a rematch of the 2013-14 Eastern Conference quarterfinals, on Oct. 9.
After that, the Bruins will head to Bell Centre to face the rival Montreal Canadiens in their home opener on Oct. 16, seeking revenge for a playoff exit at the hands of the Habs in this year’s Eastern Conference semifinals.
Other notable home openers include the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, who open at home against San Jose after coming back from a 3-0 series deficit to beat the Sharks in this season’s Western Conference quarterfinals, and the Colorado Avalanche, who play their home opener against the Minnesota Wild after being dispatched by them in their playoff matchup.
