Charles Barkley has spoken again.

With the start of NBA free agency looming, there has been much speculation about forward Carmelo Anthony joining forces with the Miami Heat. If Anthony does opt to leave the New York Knicks for Miami, there could be a “Big Four” in South Beach with Anthony, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

While Heat fans might be thrilled about the move, Barkley spoke of his displeasure about the possibility in an interview with NBA TV’s “The Starters.”

The “NBA on TNT” analyst said the Heat already “hijacked” the NBA when they signed James and Bosh to complement Wade, and this signing would make things worse for the game.

“I think it’d be a travesty for the NBA,” Barkley said. “I just don’t understand why today’s players don’t want to compete against each other.”

Despite dropping 31 points in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, James had little help from his supporting cast in a series-ending loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Anthony’s 27.4 points per game in 2014 — second-best in the league — could take some of the scoring pressure off of LeBron. But it’s safe to say that if the move does happen, Mr. Barkley won’t be very happy.
