Horace Grant: Michael Jordan, Bulls Would ‘Lock Up’ LeBron James’ Heat

LeBron James, Michael JordanAdd another opinion to the ongoing LeBron James-Michael Jordan debate.

Former NBA forward Horace Grant, who won three straight NBA titles with Jordan and the Bulls from 1991-93, argued during an appearance on a Chicago radio station Tuesday that his Bulls team could have easily beaten James’ current Miami Heat squad.

“The Heat wouldn’t have had a chance,” Grant said, via ESPN.com. “We would have locked them up. We would have locked them up. Especially with the rules today, Michael would have had a field day.”

James and the Heat will make their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance against the San Antonio Spurs and are four wins away from winning three NBA titles in a row.

Yet Jordan pulled off the three-peat twice, once in the early 90s and again in 1996-98 after coming out of retirement. M.J. and the Bulls also won their championships with relative ease, pulling off five series sweeps during their first string of championships and compiling a 45-13 playoff record in that span, compared to James’ 44-17 postseason record since 2012.

While we’ll never know the outcome of this hypothetical battle of the superstars, it’s fun to imagine. LeBron vs. Jordan, Scottie Pippen vs. Dwyane Wade and Grant vs. Chris Bosh? Now that would be a series for the ages.
