Montreal Canadiens mascot Youppi! hit presumably the lowest point of his career on Sunday.

The Habs made a bet with late-night talk show host Jimmy Fallon over the outcome of the Eastern Conference finals, and with the New York Rangers defeating the Habs in the best-of-seven series, it was time for the mascot to pay up. After the team’s Twitter account changed its avatar to a picture of Henrik Lundqvist playing guitar on Fallon’s old show, “Late Night,” Youppi! donned a Rangers sweater and dejectedly walked through Montreal.

As per the terms of the deal, Youppi! was photographed in his customized jersey at ten different landmarks around the city. The mascot was the definition of despair, looking heartbroken to be caught wearing the enemy’s colors.

The Canadiens might think twice about proposing bets on social media next season — at least for the sake of their big, fuzzy mascot.
