Jaguars Building Poolside Cabanas To Sell For $12.5K Per Game (Photo)

There’s nothing worse than watching a terrible NFL team play a meaningless game in December, long after its playoff hopes have died.

Perhaps taking it in from a poolside cabana will help ease the pain.

The Jacksonville Jaguars might be hoping that’s true, as the team has taken out 9,500 seats in the north end zone of Everbank Field to install a two-story “party deck space” that includes four poolside cabanas.

The cabanas will be ready for the 2014 season and can be rented out for $12,500 per game. While that might seem like a steep price tag, that hefty sum gets you 50 tickets and unlimited access to food and drink as you lounge by the pool and try to forget yet another Jags loss.

Jaguars fans apparently are taking the bait, as Jacksonville’s senior vice president of sales, Chris Johnson, said that 65 percent of the cabanas have already sold out for 2014.

“We’re targeting businesses who want to entertain some of their clients or even their own employees,” Johnson said, via ESPN. “What we’ve built here you can’t get anywhere else.”

The Jags made some noise in this year’s draft by taking offensive stars in quarterback Blake Bortles and wide receiver Marqise Lee, so the future in Jacksonville might not be bleak forever.

Until then? Make sure you bring your bathing suits, Jags fans.
