On June 17, 1943, Joe Cronin completed a pretty incredible feat for the Red Sox. Cronin was a player-manager for Boston, after being traded from the Washington Senators, and really pulled his weight in both games of his team’s doubleheader.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.
