Ken Duke Makes Incredible Par Save After Intentional Putt Into Bunker (Video)

Ken Duke hit a poor tee shot on the ninth hole at Pinehurst on Friday during the second round of the U.S. Open.

One of the toughest holes on the course — GolfWeek has put it on “Death Watch” — the ninth green is one that will likely ruin someone’s tournament this weekend. Duke was in trouble even before he reached the green on Friday, though.

His tee shot was errant, and the ball ended up in a pretty awful position. The ball ended up lodged in between a random piece of fescue and the fringe. Behind the fescue, naturally, was a greenside bunker.

Duke had to get a little creative. So the veteran golfer pulled out his putter, turned around and putted left-handed. Instead of trying to putt it onto the green, Duke went with the “smart play” and putted the ball into the bunker.

Weird, right? Well, Duke then chipped out of the bunker and, of course, holed out to save par.

If only it was that easy for the rest of us.
