Kevin Love didn’t confirm that he was opting out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent in 2015, but he did express his desire to play for a playoff team in an appearance on ESPN’s “SportsNation” on Wednesday.
“No matter what the outcome is, I just want to end up in a great place where I can win,” Love said. “At the end of the day, I’ve played six years, haven’t made the playoffs yet, that burns me and hurts my heart, so I really want to be playing.”
These comments from the Minnesota Timberwolves forward come after newly self-appointed head coach Flip Saunders said that Love “doesn’t have a right to be frustrated” with the team’s lack of success.
As for Love, he wouldn’t give any details on what his next step will be or where he would like to be playing next year.
“My agent is handling everything at this point. I’m hoping that everything works out for all parties involved,” Love said.
But Love did make an interesting comment when prompted to talk about the New York Knicks.
“I think any time you have Phil Jackson involved in any organization, you’re going to definitely look at it and it’s definitely intriguing,” Love said. “The Knicks are definitely a place where anybody would like to go.”
It looks like the Celtics have some competition in their quest to land Love.
