Kevin WilliamsThe New England Patriots wanted to sign Kevin Williams, but the veteran free-agent defensive tackle thought the Seattle Seahawks gave him a better chance to win.

Williams took less money to play for the Seahawks over the Patriots, he told ESPN.com last week. The Seahawks “had a few more pieces in place for me” than the Patriots, Williams said. Williams signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks.

The Patriots have solid depth at defensive tackle, but Vince Wilfork (Achilles), Tommy Kelly (knee) and Dominique Easley (knee) are recovering from injuries. The Patriots struggled to find depth at defensive tackle last season after Wilfork, Kelly and Armond Armstead (infection) went down early in the season.

The Patriots eventually found solid production out of Chris Jones and Sealver Siliga, who will compete for roster spots this summer.
