1402081811_landonLandon Donovan might not be gracing our television screens during the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup, but he could be gracing our neighborhood bars.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star was a guest on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Tuesday and he told the host he has come to terms with being left off the United States World Cup squad. Donovan even added that he’s “excited” to watch them play in the first World Cup he hasn’t participated in since 1998.

“It’s time to move on, and I’m now — after being disappointed — now I speak to the guys a lot, and they’re all excited,” Donovan told Patrick. “I’m excited to watch and support them. I haven’t had a chance in 12 years to support the team as a fan. It’s a little bittersweet, but it’ll still be fun to watch them and wish them to do well.”

But where Donovan chooses to root on the U.S. could prove interesting to fans. Unless one of the 23 players goes down with an injury and Donovan becomes a last-minute addition to the roster, he told Patrick he’s mulling over the idea of throwing back a few cold ones and watching the opener with some rowdy fans.

“Part of me just wants to sit on my couch and sit there and let the emotions go one way or the other so I am not around anybody,” Donovan added. “And part of me wants to go to a bar and have a few beers and watch with local soccer fans and experience it all that way. I don’t know. It will probably be a game-time decision.”
