Icelandic strongman Hafthor Bjornsson spent a brief but gruesome stint on the HBO series “Game of Thrones” last month, playing a man aptly nicknamed “The Mountain.”

But Bjornsson, who drew interest from the Indianapolis Colts last season, was not the only person with NFL ties eager to portray one of “Thrones'” most fearsome villains.

New York Giants linebacker and Boston College product Mark Herzlich told TMZ Sports that he, too, tried to land the role, but that he didn’t possess the face-crushing prowess the producers were looking for.

At 6-foot-4, 246 pounds, Herzlich is a pretty big dude, but even he would be dwarfed in the presence of Bjornsson. The 25-year-old World’s Strongest Man competitor checks in at an astounding 6-foot-9, 419 pounds, and spends much of his time lifting truck tires and pulling planes.

Yeah, we’ll give the edge to that guy.
