Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado has not come off as the best guy in Major League Baseball this weekend.

On Friday, Machado prompted the benches to clear when he dramatically reacted to being tagged out by Oakland Athletics third baseman Josh Donaldson. No, really, that was the actual reason.

Unsurprisingly, Machado was at the center of the drama during Sunday’s series finale against the A’s, causing the benches to clear yet again. During the eighth inning of the A’s 11-1 win, Machado hurled his bat toward Oakland third baseman Alberto Callaspo — who had entered the game to replace Donaldson — on a late swing and a miss just one pitch after reliever Fernando Abad threw inside on him and nearly hit him.

It didn’t take long for both benches and bullpens to make their way onto the field and start jawing at one another, and once the dust settled, Machado and Abad were both ejected.

Things are testy between these two squads to say the least, but fortunately they won’t see each other again until July 18.

UPDATE (Tuesday, 2:15 p.m.): Machado has been suspended five games and fined. Abad has been fined, as well.
