Some serious star power was on hand to commemorate the Stanley Cup Final’s return to New York City.

Recently retired New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera and Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar donned the uniforms of their cities’ respective hockey teams Monday morning as part of a Delta Airlines promotion.

The two announced the rows for a Delta flight, hung out on the plane and even played a little air hockey, with none other than 1994 Cup hero Mark Messier serving as the referee.

We can’t confirm or deny whether Abdul-Jabbar insisted on being called Roger Murdock during the event.

The Kings won Games 1 and 2 in L.A. (in overtime and double OT, respectively) to take a 2-0 series lead. They’ll look to push the Rangers to the brink of elimination Monday night in Game 3.
