Popping the question to the one you love is supposed to be one of the happiest moments of any man’s life.
That wasn’t the case for a Mexican fan and his girlfriend, as the couple probably experienced one of the most bittersweet moments imaginable at the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
With Mexico leading The Netherlands 1-0 late in their Round of 16 matchup, a Mexican fan got down on his knee and asked his girlfriend to marry him in the stands.
She said yes.

Minutes later, Mexico allowed two goals and lost to the Netherlands 2-1, ending their World Cup bid.
Talk about a roller coaster of emotions.
At the end of the day, it’s just sports. The bride and groom to be are probably still extremely happy.
But for those who believe in omens and superstitions, Mexico’s collapse may not have been the best outcome immediately after a wedding proposal.
Hopefully for the happy couple, there is no correlation between proposals during World Cup collapses and failed marriages.
