Aaron Dobson will be playing from behind when he finally takes the field for the New England Patriots during training camp.
The second-year wide receiver is doubtful to participate in Patriots minicamp this week after undergoing foot surgery three months ago, a source told MassLive.com’s Nick Underhill on Monday. Dobson’s original timetable for recovery was set for two-to-three months, but the wideout was spotted earlier this month at Kevin Faulk’s celebrity softball game limping without wearing a walking boot.
Fellow second-year wide receivers Josh Boyce and Kenbrell Thompkins will see an increase in snaps with Dobson out. Veteran free-agent acquisition Brandon LaFell also will receive more opportunities with quarterback Tom Brady and the first-team unit.
Underhill also reported that cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is likely to participate in minicamp after missing organized team activities for undisclosed reasons.
