Carmelo Anthony, Jared SullingerWith Carmelo Anthony determined to test free agency this summer, it appears as though two teams are emerging ahead of the pack to get the All-Star forward.

Anthony is waiting for the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets to position themselves to offer him a contract, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Wojnarowski wrote that the 30-year-old is “leaning toward leaving in pursuit of immediate championship contention,” and that the Bulls and Rockets are at the top of his list as he waits for the two teams to “clear the necessary salary-cap space to sign him in free agency,” according to league sources.

“As re-signing with the Knicks continues to fade as his priority, Chicago and Houston have emerged as the clear frontrunners to acquire Anthony,” Wojnarowksi wrote.

Team President Phil Jackson recently expressed his desire for Anthony to return to the Knicks for another year, saying that the star could then test free agency the following summer if desired.

It looks like Melo is on his way out, though. Is a possible Anthony-Rose-Noah marriage going to happen? Or how about Anthony-Howard-Harden?

Let the bidding war begin.
