Carmelo Anthony, Ryan AndersonNow that Carmelo Anthony has opted out of his contract, as expected, there will be no shortage of suitors for the free agent forward.

The Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks will all make pitches to Anthony when free agency opens July 1, although the Chicago Bulls remain the frontrunner, sources told ESPN.com. The Miami Heat are reportedly also considering ways to unite Anthony with LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Anthony can sign a maximum contract of $129 million over five seasons with the Knicks, or a four-year deal worth $96 million with a new team. Still, Anthony has said he wants to win now, and the Knicks are ill-prepared to do that, coming off a 37-45 season.

The Bulls have been making moves for the better part of a year with Anthony’s free agency in mind. The Rockets are confident in their own chances, according to ESPN.com’s report, while the Heat and Mavs consider themselves unlikely to land James.
