Report: Celtics Scared Of Joel Embiid’s Medicals, Not Sold On Center

Joel EmbiidThe Boston Celtics might not bite if Kansas center Joel Embiid still is available at No. 6 overall in the 2014 NBA draft.

Embiid’s medical records, which include a broken foot and bad back, scare the Celtics, ESPN’s Bill Simmons reported Thursday. Simmons tweeted that the Celtics aren’t sold on Embiid, and that they’re more likely to trade down than to select the big man, who once was projected as the top overall pick in the draft.

Sports Illustrated reported Wednesday that Embiid is “highly unlikely” to slip past the Celtics at No. 6 or the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 7.

Embiid is expected to be out for 4 to 6 months after having two screws inserted into the navicular bone in his right foot.
