Report: Free-Agent Pass Rusher Quentin Groves Visited Patriots Wednesday

Quentin Groves, Martin WallaceRecently released pass rusher Quentin Groves already got a call from the New England Patriots.

Groves, who was released by the Cleveland Browns on Friday, visited the Patriots on Wednesday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported. Groves recorded two sacks and a forced fumble in five games last season.

Groves is a former Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft pick (No. 52 overall) out of Auburn. He also has spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals.

Groves has 8.5 career sacks and 157 tackles in six NFL seasons. He is set to visit the Washington Redskins on Thursday.

The Patriots currently have starters Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich, rookie Zach Moore, second-year pro Michael Buchanan and veterans Will Smith and Jake Bequette at defensive end.
