Ray Allen’s days as an NBA player might not be over just yet.
Despite mulling retirement following the Miami Heat’s NBA Finals loss, the sharpshooter now says he wants to play a 19th season, ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst reports. But Allen doesn’t want to play just anywhere.
After winning an NBA championship and making two Finals runs together, Allen and LeBron James have developed a strong relationship, on the court and off. They even went on vacation together after their championship loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
It’s unclear whether James, who opted out of his contract with the Heat, will stay in Miami. Wherever he goes, Allen will most likely follow suit in his quest for a third ring.
Allen will turn 39 on July 20 and proved to be durable this past season, playing in 79 regular season games and all 20 postseason games. He averaged 9.3 points per game on 41 percent shooting.
