The New England Revolution dropped their final match before the Major League Soccer two-week break for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, losing 2-0 to the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium.
It was New England’s (7-5-2, 23 pts.) first loss at home this season, but the Revs maintain sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference after the weekend.
It also marked the first time the Red Bulls (4-5-6, 18 pts.) recorded a regular-season win at Gillette Stadium since June 29, 2002.
The Revolution will return to MLS action June 28, when they host the Philadelphia Union at home.
