The Boston Red Sox outfield is having a bit of a power outage.
With Shane Victorino out of the lineup because of injury and Jackie Bradley Jr. hitting barely above the Mendoza line, the Red Sox have been forced to put infielder Brock Holt in the outfield for a little boost. They’ve also started to play minor league infielders Mookie Betts and Garin Cecchini in the outfield so they can gain some more exposure.
While Holt has produced, the Red Sox would be thrilled to get a healthy Victorino back.
The World Series hero hasn’t seen much time this year, playing in just 21 games. He hasn’t played since May 23, when he re-aggravated a hamstring injury.
