When Robin van Persie scored one of the greatest headers you’ll ever see in The Netherlands’ 5-1 win over Spain on Friday, we all knew the highlight would play in our heads and on our television sets throughout the next month.
What we didn’t expect is for social media users all over the world to start the next great trend: #VanPersieing, or simply just #Persieing.
People from around the globe have been tweeting pictures of themselves replicating van Persie’s amazing goal. Since most people can’t fly like the Flying Dutchman, they have resorted to lying on the floor (or other objects) face first with their arms outstretched behind them.
