The New Orleans Saints cheerleading squad makes dreams come true for 36 young women every season. This year, though, they’re turning one special rather unique dream into reality.
The Saintsations have added Kriste Lewis, a 40-year-old mother of two boys, to their roster.

Lewis was the oldest to audition by a decade, as she went up against competition ranging from 18 to 30 years old.
“There were a lot of young, beautiful girls,” Lewis told ABC News. “It was a fear. I will not lie.”
In addition to being the eldest member of the squad, Lewis also was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease 14 years ago. Eventually, Lewis says, her kidneys will “shut down” and she’ll be in need of dialysis and a transplant.
“That had a lot to do with me auditioning as well,” Lewis told ABC. “I didn’t want to waste a day.”
Lewis believes mothers never stop giving and that she’s happy to get back to what made her excited as a child.
“The day I got the news, I was beside myself,” Lewis said. “It was really exciting.”
