Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is usually successful scaring other players away when they try to touch his head, but he was no match for two small birds on Saturday.
Nobody, not even Beltre, could control the two bold birds who wandered onto the field at the Rogers Centre in the eighth inning of the Rangers’ game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The two birds took over the diamond with Roman Mendez on the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth. Mendez stepped off the mound after the birds walked near him before a pitch, then Beltre runs over from third base to take a crack at scaring them.

Obviously Beltre’s efforts didn’t work, as the birds kept gallivanting slowly toward first base. Meanwhile, Texas first baseman J.P. Arencibia didn’t seem to be bothered by the birds’ presence too much, as he just stood and watched them cross.
Humans would eventually take back power, though, as the Blue Jays went on to a 4-1 victory.
